Interview: Wolf Stars George MacKay and Lily-Rose Depp

Wolf is a strange and fascinating new feature film written and directed by Nathalie Biancheri. This unique drama tells the story of Jacob, a young man who thinks he is a wolf. Weird right? It also happens to feature two incredible performances from George MacKay and Lily-Rose Depp. Both of these fine actors find the reality in this strange story. The examination of how mental health is treated, and the problems of abuse that come with it is a powerful one. As well, Biancheri finds a way to tell this tale without diving into the outrageous or the ridiculousness of what could’ve been. There is much to admire here, especially with the casting of the film’s leads.

With his work in 1917, Captain Fantastic, and True History of the Kelly Gang, George MacKay is proving to be an exceptional talent. He and Lily-Rose Depp shine in Wolf. The performances from both bring the latest feature to life. We recently sat down with the two and discussed working with Nathalie, and finding their inner animal. Both performances are so inspired that they make this complex feature film all the more compelling. If you’d like to see something truly original, might I recommend Wolf opening this Friday? There’s certainly nothing else like it, and you’ll likely have a strong reaction to this complex and inventive thriller.
