Interview with the Soska sisters features Rabid remake footage

The directorial duo of "twisted twins" Jen and Sylvia Soska recently wrapped production on a remake of David Cronenberg's 1977 film RABID (you can pick up a copy of Cronenberg's film on Amazon), and while it's not yet known when we'll get a chance to see the full movie, the first footage from their remake has shown up online. In a CBC News report on female horror filmmakers, an interview with the Soskas is accompanied by glimpses of a few RABID clips. The reporter and the Soskas are usually speaking over the imagery, but you can still get an idea of how the movie looks and what a couple scenes will be like.

During this report, it's also mentioned that AMERICAN PSYCHO director Mary Harron gave the Soskas notes on their rough cut of the remake.

Laura Vandervoort stars in the new RABID as Rose, a character played by Marilyn Chambers in the original film.

Following a disfiguring accident, Rose receives an untested stem cell treatment that, while it restores her beauty, has dangerous consequences.

The remake is set in "the world of high fashion", and Vandervoort's co-stars include Ben Hollingsworth as a fashion photographer, Mackenzie Gray as an arrogant fashion designer, Hanneke Talbot as Rose's best friend, and AJ Mendez and CM Punk in unspecified roles.

A Back 40 Pictures production, RABID is being produced by Michael Walker, Paul Lalonde, and John Vidette.

Scream Factory will be distributing the film across multiple platforms in the United States. A71 Entertainment will be distributing RABID in Canada, with 101 Films distributing it in the United Kingdom.

We'll let you know when the release dates are announced. I'm very curious to see how this one is going to turn out.
