Interview: We talk Nocturnal Animals with Jake Gyllenhaal, Shannon & More!

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

The latest from Tom Ford is a hauntingly captivating thriller. From the opening credits to the final frame, NOCTURNAL ANIMALS is just plain stunning. Not only has the director brought in an incredible cast, he has crafted an intense drama, one that features one of the most terrifying scenes we've seen all year – and that is saying something. Jake Gyllenhaal is fantastic. Amy Adams is once again great, and both Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Michael Shannon add tremendous support. Scary, shocking and provocative, NOCTURNAL ANIMALS is a fascinating feature that will linger well after your first veiwing.

Recently, we had the opportunity to chat with this incredible cast. Starting with Mr. Gyllenhaal, we spoke about playing a fictional character inside an already fictionalized world. The actor continues to impress, and he is outstanding here. He discussed playing such an emotional and complicated character, and what it was like working with Mr. Ford. The actor continues to prove that he is one of the best actors working today. And he also happens to be one of the best guys to interview, just an all around cool fellow.

Next up we spoke to both Michael Shannon and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. I love talking to both of these fine gentlemen. Shannon has really had an amazing year with this and MIDNIGHT SPECIAL – as well as a brief role in LOVING. He opened up about playing a character who is dealing with some serious choices, and working with Gyllenhaal. As for Taylor-Johnson, it takes a pretty great actor to be as kind as Aaron is and yet be utterly terrifying on-screen. He talked about playing a very bad man, and stepping into the world Mr. Ford had created.

NOCTURNAL ANIMALS is a strange and fantastic film and it opens wide this weekend.
