Interview: Steve O talks getting a Vasectomy on camera, and What Stunts Were Too Brutal for Jackass

The Jackass brand has been all over the place since the late 90s, with the fourth entry even coming to theaters last year. And one of the standouts is always Steve O. The terrible things he’s willing to put his body through are often the stuff of legend. And he’s managed to create himself a nice little place on the internet where he interviews various celebrities. Yet his desire to do these insane stunts has never stopped and so he’s taken things into his own hands. And because this isn’t a big Hollywood production, he’s able to get away with a lot. In fact, one of my most common phrases uttered during this special was: “I can’t believe he’s doing this to himself.”

The special itself is something that only the biggest Jackass/Steve O fans will be able to endure. While Steve O has come a long way with his storytelling, he’s still showing some very graphic acts that will limit the audience. I watch a lot of intense horror movies and they don’t have much of an effect on me. I quantify that to say that this special is honestly the most I’ve ever had to look away from the screen. There are things happening here that will have you wincing in disbelief. But the most oddly heartwarming part of the whole special is that Steve O appears to have found his soulmate. If you’re wondering why I would make such a brash statement, well she literally gets Steve’s poop flung onto her while she’s filming. And she laughs. This woman was meant for Steve O.

So after being taken aback by so many different stunts in this film, I was lucky enough to talk with Steve O all about it. He gets into what music he listens to in order to get pumped up for a stunt, and the less catchy title he originally had for the special.
