Interview: Seven Psychopaths director Martin McDonagh (and the adorable dog Bonny)

Martin McDonagh is one of the brightest new talents in film today. With IN BRUGES, he was able to capture a sense of drama, intensity and a whole lot of humor. The writer/director is back with his latest feature SEVEN PSYCHOPATHS. McDonagh casts some old friends of his including Colin Farrell, Christopher Walken and Sam Rockwell to make one of the coolest ensembles of the year.

When I sat down with McDonagh, we talked about working with a couple of his childhood heroes, Walken and the great Tom Waits. We also talked about the balancing act of mixing violence and humor and heart into one. This is a gift he is clearly a master at thanks to a ridiculously good script and inspired performances.

And just in case you think we are missing one of the films major stars, I also happened to get a chance to talk to Bonny the ShihTzu. Yes, the dog barks about working with Woody Harrelson, and to be honest it sounds like she had a tough time. It was especially challenging on her as she portrays a boy dog in the film.

Go see SEVEN PSYCHOPATHS on Friday because it is just fantastic!
