Marvel is back on the small screen with their latest effort, the Disney+ mini-series Secret Invasion. It’s nice to see the great Samuel L. Jackson take center stage, giving Nick Fury a chance to shine. The six-episode series explores a different dynamic. As opposed to flashy superheroes flying around, this is a grounded take on these characters. It puts focus on Fury and Talos as they attempt to stop the infiltration of Skrulls. The series stars Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Cobie Smulders, Olivia Colman, Emilia Clarke, Kingsley Ben-Adir, and more.
Recently, I headed over to The London Hotel to interview Ali Selim, an executive producer and director of the series. We also had the chance to chat with Kingsley Ben-Adir about playing Gravik, an original character in the MCU. For Selim, he discussed the tone of the series and his inspiration for much of it. It’s not what you might expect from a Marvel series. And for Ben-Adir, he opened up with excitement about taking on this character and bringing Gravik into this experience. The Secret Invasion has started, and it is available to watch today. And if you’re a Nick Fury fan, you’ll definitely want to tune in.
In Secret Invasion, set in the present-day MCU, Fury learns of a clandestine invasion of Earth by a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls. Fury joins his allies, including Everett Ross, Maria Hill, and the Skrull Talos, who has made a life for himself on Earth.
