Interview: Patrick Wilson, Ty Simpkins, and Sinclair Daniel Talk Insidious: The Red Door

Last Updated on July 6, 2023

Since the release of James Wan’s original fright flick, Insidious, I’ve been excited about the franchise. The 2010 feature offered an incredible cast with Rose Byrne, Patrick Wilson, and Lin Shaye. It also managed to bring on the spooks in entertaining ways. And it’s been a few years since Insidious: Chapter 2, where we saw the Lambert family traumatized by what lurks in “The Further.” And now, in the fourth sequel, after a few years of forgetting, Dalton (Ty Simpkins) and his father, Josh (Patrick Wilson), are about to get a reminder of what hides in their memory. As a fan of the series, it’s great to see this cast return, especially since Insidious: The Red Door is the directorial debut of its star, Patrick Wilson.

Recently, we thoroughly enjoyed chatting with cast members of Insidious: The Red Door. First up, we spoke to Ty Simpkins and Sinclair Daniel. The two are terrific in the new film, and Ms. Daniel shines opposite Simpkins. For Ty, he opened up about returning to the series. He also discussed having his cinematic father direct the latest chapter. As for Ms. Daniel, she opened up about becoming a part of this franchise and working opposite Ty. The two work beautifully together, and it was a joy to speak to both.

Patrick Wilson is one of the most delightful people you could interview. Having spoken to the man many times since the original Insidious arrived in theatres, I’ve grown to respect Wilson truly. The actor – and now director – is kind and incredibly talented. And he’s also so warm and informative when he discusses his projects. He opened up about why the Insidious franchise led to his directorial debut. And one of the best aspects of the new film is the father and son dynamic. Patrick discussed that and the ease of working with Ms. Byrne and Mr. Simpkins again. And his latest is certainly worth a look for Insidious fans.

Return to “The Further” this Friday, and step inside Insidious: The Red Door.
