INT: Kyle Newman

Kyle Newman has made a terrific film about friendship. It is also about the power of what George Lucas created and how eagerly all of us waited for Episode 1: The Phantom Menace. While that first episode certainly didn’t live up to our expectations, FANBOYS reminds us of the thrill of waiting for it’s initial release. It was an exciting time for audiences everywhere. And Kyle has created a funny, and surprisingly touching movie that encompasses all the excitement and humor one could expect from a film named after almost everybody who visits a film website.

Recently, I had the wonderful opportunity to stop and talk with Kyle about the film. With all the disappointment of it’s limited release, and the constant battle to be able to release the film he wanted, he is handling himself with absolute class. We spoke about the changes made to the film early on and we also spoke about the ridiculous limited release. Did I happen to mention class? Kyle really is one of the nicest guys you could ever meet and I really hope that FANBOYS will find its way into a theatre near you. So if it does happen to play in your neck of the woods, please do yourself a favor and go see it… for the love of Chewie, go see it.
