Interview: Kevin Costner & Gary Oldman talk criminal and dark characters!

Ariel Vromen is a very talented filmmaker. From his slow burn examination of Richard Kuklinski in THE ICEMAN, to his latest, he continues to delve into some very dark territory. CRIMINAL is part crime drama and part sci-fi, and it's very compelling. It also features one hell of a great cast. You have Ryan Reynolds, Gal Gadot, Alice Eve, Tommy Lee Jones, Kevin Costner and Gary Oldman, just to name a few. And it's a very different role for leading man Costner.

While at the junket for CRIMINAL, I had the opportunity to once again chat with Kevin Costner. The man is a legend, and quite frankly, I think he continues to get better. In the new film, he plays a vicious character without time for sympathy for others. It is a very physical role and the actor is terrific in it. He talked about playing a man like this, and just how he prepared for it.

Now when you sit across from the incredible Gary Oldman, it is hard not to think about all the amazing performances he has given. When I sat down with him for this, we talked about the film and finding the layers. Oldman is one of those rare actors that can truly dissappear in a performance.

Finally we took some time to talk with Ariel, an impressive director that will have one hell of a great career. He always attracts exceptional actors to his films and he manages to get wonderful performances from those involved. We talked about the kinds of characters he brings to life, and about approaching science fiction in his latest. This really was a dream junket with the level of talent involved.
