Interview: Jorma Taccone and John Solomon Talk MacGruber

It’s MacGruber week. And because of this, I’m happy to say that the fans of this wonderfully weird character have something to look forward to courtesy of Peacock. I’ve been a fan of Jorma Taccone and John Solomon’s work for a very long time. From Hot Rod to Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, Jorma has created some incredibly inspired comedies. Even his producing credits include the critically acclaimed Palm Springs and the delightful and witty series on TruTV I’m Sorry. Yet together, Mr. Soloman and Mr. Taccone have something truly hilarious with the small screen take on one of the weirdest action heroes to ever grace the big and small screen. Having watched three episodes, I can’t wait to see what’s next.

Recently, we at JoBlo had a fantastic time chatting with all the amazing folks involved with the latest take on the throat-ripping hero. As a huge fan of the movie, I’m thrilled that they got this so right. The two discussed talking the character to television, and how long it took after the initial release to bring it to life. They also opened up about that damn song that I adore. When Kristen Wiig appears in the series you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about. Jorma, John, and Will have given us the MacGruber fans have been waiting for. And if you’ve never seen the film, I highly recommend it. Check out MacGruber on Peacock, this Thursday, December 16th.
