Intro

Testosterone
Inc. is the nickname I gave this trio (but I kept it to myself…
shhhh). They’re just loaded with energy and their dialogue with
each other flows like KY jelly… or should that be “flows like
whatever KY jelly loosens up”? Bope (shoulders shrugged). Lets
just say they’re having a great time working on this production
and are hopeful more work will come down the line. I didn’t see
them do much that day other then jump off a cliff (would have been
funny had I told them to do just that…hehe) on wires, but I’ll
be damned if I ever seen it done better. Cool guys. Taylor Kitsch
can next be seen in the Sam Jackson vehicle SNAKES ON A PLANE.
Toby Hemingway | Taylor Kitsch | Chace Crawford |
Do
you guys think this movie’s going to be scary?
Toby:
It’s scary, but it’s definitely but this suspense stuff in it.
Taylor: I definitely
don’t think it’s a horror film by any stretch.
Toby:
It’s thrilling, definitely gonna make you jump though.
Taylor: More thriller
kind of action, no blood and gore or anything close to do that.
I’ll try and cut myself next scene. (laughs)
How
is it working with Renny Harlin?
Chace:
It’s been good, really good. He’s a great director. He’s super
prepared… gives us a lot of freedom to do what we want. It’s
great.
Taylor: It’s almost
been too good… something has to go wrong before the end of 2
weeks. (laughs) The biggest thing is that everyone is on the same
page. We all want this to be so good and we want to get this thing
right and it just comes together.
Toby:
We don’t think anything like this has happened for a while, a film
like this anyways.
In
what way?
Toby:
Ummm… I don’t know…
Taylor: (laughs)
You
making connections to “The
Lost Boys”?
Toby:
Exactly… Like “The Outsiders”, just a core group of guys.
Chace:
More contemporary, more action and special effects.
Toby:
And we’re not cheesy warlocks, we won’t necessarily use our
powers for good. It’s realistic… what would you do if you were a
warlock and you were 17? Because when you’re 18 you get your full
powers, and you get addicted to it and the powers age you and you
die. And you know things happen… We’ve been close for so long
that we stop being suspicious of each other. It’s a lot about
relationships and not just action scene after action scene.
There’s jealousy and revenge…
Do
you guys age a lot by the end of this movie?
Taylor: You’ll have to
watch it!
Chace:
Maybe. (laughs)
How
old are you guys?
Toby:
22.
Taylor: 24.
Chace:
And I’m 20.
What
would you do if you really had your powers?
Taylor: And I had the
repercussion of aging though?
Chace
and Toby: Ooooooo…
Taylor: Depends? Do I
have a core group of guys?
Why?
Are you the only one that has powers in the movie?
Taylor: No.
Well
all of you then.
Chace:
I would abuse my body and eat McDonald’s, then use my powers to
decrease the fat. (laughs)
Toby:
I think its pretty good casting. Everyone would probably just use
their powers exactly as the characters in the movie would.
Taylor: I’d probably
use it to pick up girls.
Toby:
That’s why it’s realistic in the movie… They use it for
gambling, picking up chicks…
Chace:
Running from the cops…
Toby:
When you get pissed, it’s like a reaction…
Taylor: Goes from using
it for a simple laugh to trying to kill someone.
Toby:
I mean we’re jumping off cliffs!!
Chace:
There would be no such thing like taxes or speeding tickets for me
ever again.
And
do all 3 of you have to do the physical rig stuff?
Chace:
Yeah, it’s been enjoyable actually.
Toby:
Felt really easy. Well not easy, but it’s fun. I freaked though,
because at one point the wires had gone to far forward and there was
too much slack, so…
Taylor: That’s
timing…
Toby:
Yeah timing’s tough when you’re trying to look cool.
You
training for any of it?
Taylor: Lots of training.
From the wire stuff, to swimming twice a day… a lot. 12 hours a
week in the pool.
Toby:
Lots of time in the gym.
Taylor: We did the
swimming scenes, which I’m excited to see now.
Must
be really cool being young and in a city like
Montreal
and working on a movie?
Taylor: What are you
trying to say! (laughs)
Toby:
We don’t drink! What is sex? (laughs) No, we got along really
well, guys and girls, from day one. There are no assholes around.
We’ve been out around
Montreal
, it’s a great town!
Chace:
Yeah, so much fun.
Taylor: But I mean we
have a lot of night shooting for the first month, and our days off,
Monday, Tuesday… all you wanna do is sleep.
Toby:
But we had our fair share of good times.
Chace:
Yeah we had a blast.
You
learned any French?
Toby:
Yeah we learned a lot of the bad words. Like tabarnac!
(laughs)
You
guys got any projects coming out after this?
Taylor: Yeah, ummmm… a
couple of things.
Toby:
Yeah tell them again, go on.
Taylor: (laughs) Let’s
talk about Taylor Kitsch… Umm “Snakes on a Plane” I guess.
Toby:
With Samuel L. Jackson!!! Or Sammy now…
What
do you think about the title?
Taylor: I personally
liked “Pacific Air 121” which is what it was before. But yeah,
there are some serious comedic moments where you will laugh
guaranteed… probably not with me in them. I mean but yeah, you
won’t go looking for Oscars with a movie like that. But you never
know.
Do
you get eaten by snakes?
Taylor: You’re gonna
have to see for yourself. I’m not gonna tell you that much. I
fight SNAKES! I eat them… I climb into a corridor and bite them in
half. Its really all about me eating snakes. (laughs)
No, I guess my character in that is pretty fun. He’s liable, out
it that way. (laughs)
Is
it a huge plane? Like a 2 level plane?
Taylor: Yeah it is… it
was pretty darn neat to be a part of that movie.
So
what about you guys? Any other projects?
Chace:
Actually I just did a commercial before this movie.
Toby:
This is my first movie.
How
did you get the part? Did Renny have final say on that?
Chace:
I auditioned. Simple as that. I auditioned on videotape. Got a call
back and Renny was there. That’s it.
You
guys have a favorite Renny Harlin movie before this one?
Chace:
I’m a “Cliffhanger” fan man!!!
Toby:
I’m “Die Hard 2”!
Taylor: Cliffhanger! One
of my favorite movies.
Toby:
He knows his action.
Chace:
Sure does.
Has
it been tricky acting against the blue screen?
Toby:
Well we haven’t been on the blue screen that much so far. They
make it so easy for us though, the give us so many details and
specific details, they make it so easy to imagine what we’re
doing. It’s been really easy, and a lot of fun. And especially the
make-up, those contacts gets you character.
Taylor: Yeah that really
gets you in character.
Toby:
You have to be really shit to f*ck it up. Everyone’s really good in
this.
Chace:
They did a great job casting this movie.
Toby:
Everyone has their own look. Audiences are gonna find themselves
relating to someone or other.
