Gerard Butler has been bringing back some seriously cool action flicks as of late. You have Den of Thieves, the thrilling and suspenseful Copshop, and Greenland – an impressive disaster thriller. The man has been busy. And now, he is your pilot in the blast of feature, Plane. The new thriller takes him on highs and lows as a pilot who crashes into a war zone during a tumultuous storm. It’s a fun one. And it also co-stars the very talented star of small screen Luke Cage and the series Evil, Mr. Mike Colter. And it’s a delight seeing these two fine gents face off against baddies in the Jean-François Richet (Mesrine: Killer Instinct, Mesrine: Public Enemy No. 1) directed tale.
It’s always terrific to chat with Mr. Gerard Butler. The man is a delight through and through, and it’s enjoyable to talk about a project like this. In many ways, Plane is a throwback to the ’90s action flicks that introduced new characters and an exciting story. Butler opened up about that when asked about the connection to those classic features. His co-star, Mr. Colter, discussed taking on this role after his acclaimed work in Evil and Luke Cage. As for the director, I asked what led to the man behind the impressive Mesrine features with Vincent Cassell taking this on, and Gerard talked about his admiration for those films and how he felt Richet was a perfect choice. Plane lands in theatres this Friday, and it’s well worth getting your boarding pass for the ride!
