In 1950, Myrna Loy and Clifton Webb gave audiences a laugh with the comedy Cheaper by the Dozen. In 2003, Steve Martin and Bonnie Hunt brought back this familiar tale and proved successful enough for a sequel. And now, the very talented Zach Braff and Gabrielle Union are taking charge of a new Cheaper adaptation, and we have an interview with them both. This is the story of a mixed family of 12, and how they navigate through all the typical problems of home life, all while running a family business. And for Ms. Union, she not only shines in the role of Zoey Baker, she is also an executive producer on the project. The Disney+ feature is currently available to stream, and for those looking for a laugh or two, this might be the perfect family to join.
I have a whole lot of respect for Gabrielle Union. She is an incredible talent, and she is smart, driven, and she continues to take control of her career. She opened up during our conversation about taking on the role of executive producer, and why that appeals to her more than just standing in front of the camera saying lines. Gabrielle also discussed working with her co-star, Zach Braff, and what director Gail Lerner brought to the experience. As a fan of this amazing talent, it was an especially nice conversation. She is funny, charming, and a joy to speak with. And as mentioned, this weekend, perhaps get the family together and settle down for some guffaws with Cheaper by the Dozen on Disney+.
