Interview: Dune Stars Dave Bautista and Stellan Skarsgard

Starting this Friday, in theatres or on HBO Max, Denis Villeneuve’s latest feature is finally here. Dune is a sublime cinematic endeavor, one that offers some of the most incredible effects you’re likely to see this or any recent year. It’s a brilliant work, and it happens to feature an incredible cast. We’ve been discussing this film for a while now here on JoBlo, and it’s no surprise why. It’s a masterful work and fans will fully embrace it. Even back with David Lynch attempting to tap into the magic of Frank Herbert’s book, fans were hoping for the best. Now, they actually get something spectacular. If you’ve been a fan of Villeneuve’s work in the past, you’ll adore this. What is especially exciting is to see amazing actors like Stellan Skarsgard, but the beautiful work from Dave Bautista.

Recently, I sat down on Zoom to chat with both of these fine fellows. For Skarsgard, an actor who has had such an incredible career, he really wanted to work in the world Villeneuve creates. With Mr. Bautista, I’ve been especially blown away by the performances he has given with this filmmaker. Dave opened up about the challenges of being taken seriously as an actor when you are mostly seen as an action star. What was, and always is, terrific about the man is that his passion is clear. Even in this interview, he praised the craft and he’s clearly honored to take on such rich material. It’s honestly inspiring to see just how deeply he takes pride in his work. And yes, his work is terrific. With Dune opening this Friday in theatres, and on HBO Max, you can see both of these fine performances. I highly recommend it.
