Interview: director Jeremiah Zagar discusses Adam Sandler’s Hustle

The latest from Adam Sandler is one of his best. Hustle is a feel-good sports drama in the greatest of ways. It’s a sharp script, and the basketball action is impressively handled while on the courts or on the streets. Sandler stars opposite Juancho Hernangomez, Queen Latifah, Ben Foster, Robert Duvall, and other legends like Kenny Smith, and Anthony Edwards, Shooting Guard for the Minnesota Timberwolves. The mix of true-to-life sports figures with incredible actors is a perfect blend thanks to filmmaker Jeremiah Zagar. It’s also nice to see Mr. Sandberg taking on roles like Stanley Sugerman. Both he and his co-star, Mr. Hernangomez, are fantastic together.

I had the pleasure of sitting down with the cast and filmmaker of Hustle, and it was a terrific experience. Yesterday, we talked to Adam Sandler and co-star Hernangomez, and today we speak to the director Jeremiah Zegar. With critics calling it one of Sandler’s best movies ever, Zagar clearly nailed the assignment. Here, he discusses how he got involved in the film and the experience of working with this impressive cast. Hustle was a surprise for me, and it all works. The characters are exceptionally well written, and the basketball action is thrilling. And it’s currently available, only on Netflix.
