Interview: Carnival Row showrunner Erik Oleson on the fantasy series finale

Warning: The following contains spoilers for the series finale of Carnival Row.

The first season of Carnival Row debuted back before the pandemic and quickly earned a second season. But, when production was halted due to COVID-19, Amazon decided to end the series early to allow the cast and crew to join other projects. Because of this, Travis Beacham’s mythology which was capable of lasting as an ongoing series, had to be wrapped up in a single season. Now that all ten episodes of Carnival Row‘s second season have aired, fans have seen how this epic story has ended.

With huge transformations for all of the characters involved, it goes without saying that the ending of Carnival Row may not be what many fans were expecting. To discuss the end of the show, I had the chance to chat with showrunner Erik Oleson about how the saga of Philo and Vignette and the residents of The Burgue concluded. We discussed how Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevigne (watch our interview with them here) were involved in crafting the conclusion and how much of the story was altered from the original plan. We also discussed the potential future to see more stories in this fantasy realm. Check out the full interview in the embed above.

Both seasons of Carnival Row are now streaming on Prime Video.
