Aaron Cohen is one of the most important names behind Steven Soderbergh’s latest film HAYWIRE. Without him, it wouldn’t be near as intense as it is. Cohen was the film’s technical advisor who brought his history to create a sense of realism in Mallory Kane’s world.
Cohen’s history is impressive indeed. He spent three years in Israel’s “counter-terrorist” special operations undercover unit, Duvdevan. After returning home, he founded IMS Security, a consulting firm specializing in providing tactical counter-terrorist training to the U.S. military, state and local police departments and various SWAT units around the country. In case that wasn’t enough, his co-wrote a bestselling book (along with Douglas Century), “Brotherhood of Warriors: Behind Enemy Lines with a Commando in one of the World’s Most Elite Counterterrorism Units.”
He took time out for us during the press junket to talk about the weapons used in HAYWIRE. During the interview, there were a number of prop guns which he shared a little information on along with a little of his own fascinating history. It was a pleasure talking shop with Cohen, an expert in his field, and a pretty terrific guy to have on your side.
HAYWIRE opens this Friday at a theatre near you.
