Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum: Those names combined aren’t exactly what you’d expect when considering a priceless comedy duo. But 21 JUMP STREET is just full of surprises. The shockingly funny movie is, of course, based on the popular late 80s TV show about baby-faced cops going undercover in a high school. It was, for all intents and purposes, a show that did not scream for a big-screen reboot – especially one that goes in an unexpectedly different direction, tonally (let’s just say this movie doesn’t take itself very seriously).
Sitting down with Jonah and Channing, I wanted to find out what spurred them to embark on this adaptation (both are listed as executive producers, while Hill gets co-story credit), if they had encountered any hardcore fans of the show who objected to the film version, and much more. Oh yeah, and they came to the interview dressed up like their characters…
“It’s not like we’re remaking the Godfather.”
