International Alita: Battle Angel trailer shows off tons of new footage

The previous trailers for Robert Rodriguez’s ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL have shown off tons of exceptional footage of all the fight sequences and impressive visual effects, but the new international trailer proves there’s so much more we have left to see. Showcasing much more of the story and plenty more exciting, bonkers action, the new trailer gives insight into what Alita (Rosa Salazar) was doing before she entered the care of Dr. Dyson Ido (Christoph Waltz), and what I can tell from the trailer, it involves kicking ass on the moon.

Digging into the movie’s plot we also see more footage of Mahershala Ali’s sinister character, as well as the vicious sport Motorball, which sees more cybernetic beings fighting to the death – and the death is mostly at the hands of Alita. All in all the trailer does an excellent job of putting the spectacle and story into more context without giving too much away, which is great for someone like me who hasn’t read the manga it was adapted from. At one point in development hell as far back as the early 00s, the movie is almost here and it should be an exhilarating early treat in 2019 before Disney takes over with movies like CAPTAIN MARVEL, DUMBO and AVENGERS in the following months.

Here's the synopsis:

From visionary filmmakers James Cameron (AVATAR) and Robert Rodriguez (SIN CITY), comes ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL, an epic adventure of hope and empowerment. When Alita (Rosa Salazar) awakens with no memory of who she is in a future world she does not recognize, she is taken in by Ido (Christoph Waltz), a compassionate doctor who realizes that somewhere in this abandoned cyborg shell is the heart and soul of a young woman with an extraordinary past. As Alita learns to navigate her new life and the treacherous streets of Iron City, Ido tries to shield her from her mysterious history while her street-smart new friend Hugo (Keean Johnson) offers instead to help trigger her memories. But it is only when the deadly and corrupt forces that run the city come after Alita that she discovers a clue to her past – she has unique fighting abilities that those in power will stop at nothing to control. If she can stay out of their grasp, she could be the key to saving her friends, her family and the world she’s grown to love.
