Well, this sucks… Turns out all of us fans of the INSIDIOUS franchise are going to have to wait even longer now for the next entry in the franchise. Deadline reports today that INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 4 is moving from it's original October 20th date (no INSIDIOUS this Halloween? Urgh.) to a more "meh" release date of January 5th, 2018.
Oh, no. January. The horror dumping grounds…
INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 4 now moves into a January spot previously held for an "Untitled Blumhouse horror film". In the fourth in a series, welcomes back Lin Shaye as Dr. Elise Rainier as the parapsychologist faces her most fearsome and personal haunting yet: in her own family home.
Moving into its place this October will be Blumhouse's other horror flick HALF TO DEATH, from director Christopher Landon (PARANORMAL ACTIVITY: THE MARKED ONES). For those who need a refresher course, HALF TO DEATH is about "a college student (Jessica Rothe) who relives the day of her murder with both its unexceptional details and terrifying end until she discovers her killer’s identity."
INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 4 is directed by Adam Robitel (THE TAKING OF DEBORAH LOGAN) and written by series regular Leigh Whannell. The new film stars Javier Botet, Lin Shaye, Spencer Locke (see below), Josh Stewart, Caitlin Gerard, Bruce Davison, and, of course, Leigh Whannell and Angus Sampson as Specs & Tucker.
INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 4 will now hit theaters January 5th, 2018.
