There are going to be a lot of nationalities represented in THE NUN, the spin-off from THE CONJURING 2 which centers on the demonic nun apparition from that film. The cast includes American actresses Taissa Farmiga and Bonnie Aarons, Mexican actor Demian Bichir, English actress Charlotte Hope, Belgian actor Jonas Bloquet, and now you can add into the mix Romanian actress Ingrid Bisu, pictured above with THE NUN producer/co-writer James Wan.
Bisu has over a decade of credits to her name, having made her feature debut in Uwe Boll's BLOODRAYNE. She has worked primarily in her home country, and THE NUN is no exception – the film is being shot in Romania. Bisu's most recent feature was the Oscar-nominated comedy TONI ERDMANN.
Directed by Corin Hardy (THE HALLOW) from a script by Wan and Gary Dauberman (ANNABELLE), THE NUN has had the following synopsis up to this point:
A priest named Father Burke is sent to Rome to investigate the mysterious death of a nun.
The synopsis accompanying the announcement of Bisu's casting digs a little deeper:
The story centers on a young nun at a cloistered abbey in Romania taking her own life, with a priest with a haunted past and a novitiate on the threshold of her final vows sent by the Vatican to investigate. Together they uncover the order’s unholy secret and confront a malevolent force in the form of the same demonic nun from “The Conjuring 2.”
Bichir is playing Father Burke, with Farmiga as the deceased nun, Aarons as the demonic nun (which she also played in THE CONJURING 2), Bloquet as a villager, Hope as Sister Victoria, and Bisu as Sister Oana.
THE NUN is scheduled to be released on July 13, 2018.
