Chris Morgan, writer of most of the films in the Fast & Furious franchise, is set to produce an adaptation of the Brian Freeman novel Infinite (buy it HERE) for Universal Pictures. Morgan and Ainsley Davies will be producing the film through their company Chris Morgan Productions.
Morgan is not writing the screenplay adaptation. That job is being handled by the duo of Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer, whose previous credits include Thoughtcrimes, Sahara, A Sound of Thunder, Dylan Dog: Dead of Night, and the 2011 version of Conan the Barbarian.
Freeman's novel follows
Dylan Moran, who after being consumed by grief after losing his wife, begins hallucinating sinister versions of himself, lurking in the shadows. When he ends up accused of murder, Moran undergoes a hypnotherapy treatment built on the idea that with every choice he makes, he creates an infinite number of parallel universes. It’s then he discovers he’s not insane at all. There’s another version of himself, from another reality. A psychopath that not only ruined his life, but countless other Dylans. Can Dylan stop this doppelgänger before he strikes again? Or will he lose himself… to himself?
The novel was only just published last month, but it makes sense that it's already getting this sort of attention. Freeman's psychological thrillers have been sold in 46 countries and 22 languages, and now he's the latest writer on the Jason Bourne series of novels. He's kind of a big deal.
Deadline reports that Universal has "high hopes" for the Infinite adaptation, especially since they have had such a good working relationship with Morgan over the years.
