Controversial German filmmaker Jörg Buttgereit’s cult classic NEKROMANTIK is getting a special 25th Anniversary DVD treatment from the folks at Titan Video, and we have some of the deets on what to expect.
NEKROMANTIC is the controversial cult film that was banned in a number of countries due to its transgressive subject matter (which includes necrophilia) and its copious amounts of gore.
NEKROMANTIC follows Rob and Betty, a couple of ordinary necrophiles who apparently don’t mind if their dead sexual partners are not so fresh. Rob’s job affords him the opportunity to bring home corpses and the odd body part; when he loses his job, he loses Betty, and Rob’s life gets REALLY bizarre.
DVD package comes with alternate cover art (versions shown above) and includes the following features:
- New 1.33:1 digital transfer mastered from producer Manfred O. Jelinski’s 16mm inter-negative
- German language with removable English subtitles
- Full running audio commentary by Jörg Buttgereit and co-author Franz Rodenkirchen
- Featurette with outtakes and interviews with Buttgereit and producer Manfred O. Jelinski.
- The Making of Nekromantik documentary featuring behind the scenes footage
- Still gallery of over 100 stills from the collection of Jörg Buttgereit and Manfred O. Jelinski
- Liner notes by director Jörg Buttgereit, former Deep Red Magazine writer Graham Rae, and Combat Shock director Buddy Giovinazzo
