Indie horror film Brainjack gets a trailer designed like an informercial

Alright so you remember back when I told you about THE LAST EXORCISM’S creative attempt to advertise their film using Chatroullete? Yes? Good. It’s no secret that other films will soon begin to do the same…but without the surprise. I gotta admit that was pretty inventive.

It looks like the creative juices in the horror genre are still pumping. Indie filmmakers Andrew Allan and Andy Lalino (THE UH OH! SHOW) have just released the official website to their horror flick BRAINJACK. Hold on a sec though. At first glance the website, the trailer and everything else surrounding the film looks like a website for an infomercial. That’s because it is .

The genius of the unusually styled advertisements comes in the way they’re selling the film: The BRAINJACKED DVD infomercial utilizes footage used in the movie…from wild chases to sexy sirens to splitting skulls…along with graphics and voice-over narration like those normally featured in traditional infomercials. So what is this horror film in talks? This (close) synopsis of BRAINJACK is what you’re going to see on the website: What happens when runaway Tristan finds himself getting drilled in the head…by a mad surgeon…who runs a murderous mind-controlled army? Will he survive and save the world? Or will he get drilled and killed in this sinister saga of good versus evil?

You can tease yourself on the website and then buy the product DVD on the same page. Apparently the filmmakers believe that “the persuasive, direct-to-consumer approach of infomercials gives ALL independent filmmakers new power to sell and distribute movies.” It’s a step in the creative direction, I’ll give it that.

Check out the website and see the marketing for yourself right here !
