The last time we saw Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones, the Marvel Cinematic Universe had begun just a few weeks prior. In the time it took to get Indiana Jones 5 off the ground, we’ve seen the release of nearly thirty MCU movies, but I can only hope that the wait will be well worth it.
It was reported a week ago that Indiana Jones 5 had finally finished shooting and director James Mangold took to Twitter today to announce that he’s officially starting editing the sequel. Although we’ve seen plenty of photos leaked from the set of the film, fans have eagerly been awaiting the first official photo or trailer, but Mangold asked fans to be patient when it comes to an official first look at the movie.
“Although I’ve been cutting while shooting, I officially start editing INDY today!” James Mangold wrote. “To all those asking about trailers and teasers, still drops and first looks and other peeks or sneaks, this is the right place to look for info, but just a bit too soon. Be well and be patient!“
Indiana Jones 5 will once again find Harrison Ford reprising his iconic role and he’ll also be joined by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Thomas Kretschmann, Boyd Holbrook, Toby Jones, Antonio Banderas, and Shaunette Renée Wilson. While Steven Spielberg had been expected to return to direct Indiana Jones 5, he stepped down in 2020, saying that he wanted to “pass along Indy’s whip to a new generation to bring their perspective to the story.” James Mangold stepped in to replace Spielberg as director and he also co-wrote the script with Jez and John-Henry Butterworth. I know Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull didn’t exactly please everyone out there, but I’m sure there are plenty of you who are eager for one more adventure with the intrepid hero.
Indiana Jones 5 is set to be released in theaters on June 30, 2023.
