Ah, INDIANA JONES 5. Should we cover it? I think so.
After all, like many of you guys out there, one of the first tastes of horror I got as a kid was watching the brutal second entry in the Steven Spielberg saga, INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM. I have been a fan of horror and Dr. Jones since. And today we have word that screenwriter Dan Fogelman will be taking over scripting duties on the next entry in the series. The last draft was penned by Jake Kasdan (SOLO: A STAR WARS STRY) but as we reported yesterday, Kadan has moved on to writing the upcoming WILLOW sequel series for Disney+
Fogelman is a screenwriter you probably aren't familiar with. After all, he is best known for penning a bunch of flicks you've never seen such as CARS, FRED CLAUS, BOLT, TANGLED, THE GUILT TRIP, LAS VEGAS, DANNY COLLINS, LIFE ITSELF, and that TV show your mom watches THIS IS US.
Maybe you've seen CARS.
The last Indian Jones was on the big screen was back in 2008 in KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL… But let's just go ahead and forget that movie ever happened. Instead, here is the synopsis for the most "horror" entry in the series INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM:
Adventure sequel. Intrepid archaeologist Indiana Jones, on the trail of fortune and glory in Old Shanghai, it ricocheted into a dangerous adventure in India. With his faithful companion Short Round and nightclub singer Willie Scott, Indie goes in search of the magical Sankara stone and uncovers an ancient evil which threatens all who come into contact with it.
Just like all the other films in the franchise, TEMPLE OF DOOM was directed by Steven Spielberg. Robert Watts produced the sequel from a screenplay written by Willard Huyck and Gloria Katz (HOWARD THE DUCK) based on a story by George Lucas based on characters created by George Lucas and Philip Kaufman. TEMPLE OF DOOM starred Harrison Ford, Kate Capshaw, and Ke Huy Quan. John Williams provided the score.
