The movie adaptation on In The Heights was supposed to hit screens last summer but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Promotion for the film went quiet after that announcement but now that the film is set to hit theaters and HBO Max on June 18, 2021, Warner Bros. has given us a fresh look that gives a peek at some of the film's biggest moments.
In The Heights, follows a bodega owner (Anthony Ramos) who has mixed feelings about closing his store and retiring to the Dominican Republic after he inherits his grandmother's fortune. The musical, directed by Jon M. Chu, also stars Corey Hawkins, Leslie Grace, Melissa Barrera, Olga Merediz, Stephanie Beatriz, and Jimmy Smits.
The theatrical adaptation has been a long time coming. Universal Pictures first announced the project back in November of 2008 and at that time Kenny Ortega was at the helm. Universal ultimately canceled the film altogether three years later and eventually ended up at Warner Bros. when the studio put up $50 million to secure the rights.
