Imogen Poots joins Aaron Paul in the Need for Speed movie

British actress Imogen Poots will join Aaron Paul in the big screen adaptation of the NEED FOR SPEED video game franchise.

NEED FOR SPEED is being directed by Scott Waugh (ACT OF VALOR) from a screenplay by George Gatins and John Gatins. The story is still under wraps but is said to be a full original story that is not directly based on any of the video games. What we do know is that the film will be “rooted in the tradition of the great car-culture films of the ’70s while being extremely faithful to the spirit of the video game franchise.”

Poots will play a rising star stock car racer whose father has bet the farm on her winning. She most recognizable to U.S. audiences from FRIGHT NIGHT and CENTURION. She is pretty hot in a non-traditional way, which I like. She does not look like every cookie cutter actress in Hollywood. Plus, she actually has some ability on screen aside from looking good.

Aside from the director, I am liking where this project is going, but I will be cautiously optimistic until I see some footage from the movie. NEED FOR SPEED will open on February 7, 2014.
