Francis Ford Coppola's APOCALYPSE NOW will be celebrating its 40th anniversary next month and IMAX and Lionsgate have joined forces to invite audiences to experience the Vietnam War epic like never before with a special engagement of APOCALYPSE NOW FINAL CUT in select IMAX theaters on August 15th and August 18th.

If, somehow, you've never seen APOCALYPSE NOW, this would be a hell of a way to do so. "In truth, I’ve always wanted Apocalypse Now to be exhibited in the grandest format of cinema conceivable," said Coppola. "And now audiences will have a chance to experience ‘Final Cut’ in the most immersive format in existence." There are two versions of APOCALYPSE NOW out there; the original cut, which runs 153 minutes, and APOCALYPSE NOW REDUX, which runs 202 minutes. As Francis Ford Coppola felt that the original version was "too abruptly shortened" and the REDUX version was "too long," the FINAL CUT will fall somewhere in between at 183 minutes. The film has been restored in 4K from the original negative for the first time ever and digitally remastered for IMAX with crystal clear images and powerful surround sound. Bring on the Ride of the Valkyries. Tickets for APOCALYPSE NOW FINAL CUT are on sale now, and you can check out showtime listings right here.

Francis Ford Coppola’s stunning vision of “The Heart of Darkness” in all of us, Apocalypse Now, remains a classic and compelling Vietnam War epic. Martin Sheen stars as Army Captain Willard, a troubled man sent on a dangerous and mesmerizing odyssey into Cambodia to assassinate a renegade American colonel named Kurtz (Marlon Brando), who has succumbed to the horrors of war and barricaded himself in a remote outpost.

APOCALYPSE NOW FINAL CUT will hit select IMAX theaters on August 15th and August 18th.
