I used to review every episode of AMC's The Walking Dead here on Arrow in the Head, but the review series came to an end after the show's ninth season. When season 10 started up last October, I have to admit – since I wasn't reviewing the episodes anymore, I fell way behind on the show. Over the weekend, I finally caught up on every episode of season 10, which I thought was really good, and now I'm anxiously waiting for October 4th, which is when AMC will be airing the season 10 finale. This episode was supposed to air months ago, but was delayed due to the pandemic.
Images have arrived online to offer a preview of the finale, and can be seen below.
The penultimate episode ended with Beta (Ryan Hurst) and his fellow Whisperers leading a horde of zombies up to the hospital that most of the show's characters are hiding out in. Beta can be seen in the images, along with Daryl (Norman Reedus), Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), Kelly (Angel Theory), Judith (Cailey Fleming), and Carol (Melissa McBride), with a group consisting of Ezekiel (Khary Payton), Yumiko (Eleanor Matsuura), Eugene (Josh McDermitt), and Princess (Paola Lazaro) off on their own separate adventure.
Here's the synopsis for the episode:
The Walking Dead season 10, episode 16 "A Certain Doom": Beta engages the final battle of the Whisperer War. Directed by Greg Nicotero, with a story by Jim Barnes, Eli Jorné, and Corey Reed, and teleplay by Reed.
While this episode is still being referred to as the season finale, it was recently announced that six "bonus" episodes of the season will be filmed later this year, aiming to air in the spring of 2021.
Season 11 is expected to begin airing in October of 2021, with Lauren Cohan's character Maggie returning in a prominent role and Margot Bingham joining the cast, likely as the Stephanie that Eugene has been having radio chats with. (Likely, since Bingham has already been providing the voice of Stephanie for those chat scenes.)
