The SAW series is…yeah. The movies were essentially gratuitous torture wrapped up in some faux-intellectual attempt to shine a light on the cruel nature of man. But, really, they were seven excuses to rip people apart in stunning fashion. Whether or not that’s your cup of tea, it looks like you may be in for a refill, as it appears SAW 8 is scheduled to begin shooting soon in Canada.
Bloody Disgusting has gotten a hold on an image from IATSE873, a “site that supports a union of stage, theater and movie employees/operators,” that details the upcoming shoot for the new film, SAW: LEGACY, is scheduled in Toronto going from September 12 to October 21. Take a look.
Bloody Disgusting also reports that Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger (PIRANHA 3D and PIRANHA 3DD) will be writing the script with series founders James Wan and Leigh Whannell executive producing. There is no release date at this time. Speculation is going around as to what the story will be about, but is that really a mystery? What were the last seven about? Is it a sequel? Is it a reboot? And do we really care what they’re “about” anyway? People showed up to the others for a few reasons: blood, gore, guts and puppets. That’s what will make them show up for this one, so let’s not act like this one will be any different. How you feel about that will determine whether or not you’ll see the film. If the box office total of the last film is representative of anything, it’s that not many will be that excited.
