Image Comics’ Ice Cream Man to become a Quibi anthology

Ice Cream Man

For the last year and a half, Universal Cable Productions has been developing an adaptation of Image Comics' horror-fantasy anthology series Ice Cream Man, and now that adaptation is set up at the upcoming short form streaming service Quibi.

Created by W. Maxwell Prince, the comic book series is

narrated by the titular Ice Cream Man. Weaving a dark tapestry of tales from his truck, the Ice Cream Man serves up scoops of pain and suffering to the inhabitants of one suburb town for his own malevolent amusement.

The Quibi series is written by Adam and Max Reid, who will also executive produce alongside Jake Wagner of Alibi and Chris Bender and Jake Weiner of Good Fear Content. The adaptation

will dive deep into the suburban American psyche with stories that are timeless yet current, relatable yet strange, equal parts terrifying and ironic, and always end with a macabre twist.

I haven't read the Image comics, but I'm always on board for a good anthology with a creepy host.

Quibi gets its name from the fact that it will offer "quick bites" of entertainment. Intended to be watched on your smart phone while you're on the go, episodes of Quibi shows will be in the range of 10 minutes or less. The service is set to launch on April 6th.
