Uruguay’s The Silent House and Germany’s We Are The Night hit DVD in September

If you’re an avid reader of the site, you know that two of the most anticiaped foreign horror flicks awaiting release are THE SILENT HOUSE and WE ARE THE NIGHT. IFC Films and MPI Media Group have announced that they will release them on DVD in September.

THE SILENT HOUSE will hit shelves on September 13. The one-take Uruguayan film is directed by Gustavo Hernández, written by Oscar Estévez and executive produced by Gustavo Rojo. It stars Florencia Colucci, Abel Tripaldi, Gustavo Alonso and María Salazar.

Based on a true story that happened in the late ’40s in a small village in Uruguay. Filmed in one single continuous shot of seventy eight minutes, La Casa Muda focuses on Laura, who, second by second, intends to leave a house which hides an obscure secret, unharmed.

WE ARE THE NIGHT will be released on September 20. The German vampire film is directed by Dennis Gansel, who co-wrote the script with Jan Berger. It stars Karoline Herfurth, Nina Hoss, Anna Fischer, Jennifer Ulrich, Max Riemelt and Arved Birnbaum.

The film centers on a 20-year-old Berlin native Lena who gets by as a petty thief. On one of her nightly job runs through an underground club, she meets 250-year-old Louise. Don’t let her age fool you. Louise is a glamorous vixen, who is not only the owner of the club, but also the leader of an unusual all-female vampire trio – the other two members being wild child Nora and elegant Charlotte. Louise falls head over heels in love with the scruffy Lena and bites her during their first night together. Once bitten, Lena discovers the curse and the blessing of her new, eternal life. She revels in the glamor, parties and infinite freedom. But she quickly discovers that the endless blood thirst and murderous appetite of her new girlfriends come at a steep price. When Berlin police commissioner Tom Serner begins investigating the women, it is just a matter of time before their day comes and events spiral out of control.
