A few weeks ago, we got a look at a NSFW trailer for director Can Evrenol's film BASKIN, a horror film out of Turkey that tells the following story:
Five cops, working the graveyard shift in the middle of nowhere are dispatched to investigate a disturbance. Isolated and without back up they find themselves confronting a labyrinthine ruin. Pushing ever further into the depths of the lair, it becomes clear they have stumbled into the darkest pits of a terrible evil. A squalid and blood-soaked den of ritual led by The Father – the master of all their nightmares – who will plunge them ever deeper down the rabbit hole and into the very mouth of madness.
The film was headed into a premiere as part of the Toronto International Film Festival's Midnight Madness sidebar at that time, and word is that things went quite well for BASKIN at TIFF. Following its successful screenings there and all the attention the trailer has received online, it has now been announced that IFC Midnight has picked up the U.S. distribution rights to the film. Details of the release have yet to be revealed, but rest assured, BASKIN is coming to America.
The trailer was awesome and I love the "descent into a hellish labyrinth" concept. I'm really looking forward to seeing this movie and getting a chance to bask in BASKIN's insane imagery.
