If you’ve got a spare $4000, you may want your very own life-size BB-8

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

I'm honestly a little relieved that I've never gotten into the high-end collectible game, because I'm exactly the sort of sucker who'd pour way too much money into it. Sideshow's latest addition to their realm of Star Wars collectibles is just the thing that alternate-Kevin would snap up – a life-size replica of BB-8.  After Star Wars fans spent decades placing R2-D2 on his much-deserved pedestal, it must have been intimidating for J.J. Abrams' team to come up with a new lovable droid for STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS, but, somewhat miraculously, they pulled it off, and BB-8 has taken his rightful position as a beloved franchise character. Now, if you want your very own BB-8, Sideshow's new life-sized replica might be just up your alley, provided you have $4,000 to burn.

The BB-8 Life-Size Figure captures the presence of the rolling Resistance droid who came to life for fans everywhere in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. This lovable, spherical droid measures 37” tall from the bottom of the Star Wars thematic base to the top of the antennae. BB-8 is detailed with orange and silver paneling on both his round body and head, painted with weathering effects to bring all the action of the galaxy to your collection. The fiberglass astromech has a repositionable head dome, and the body can be shifted in different positions on his base.

The BB-8 Life-Size Figure can be activated to display lights in the body and head, and the figure includes a sound feature for recreating the distinct bwoops and beeps of the iconic droid. Activate these dynamic features and bring BB-8 to life with the included remote control.

You can pre-order BB-8 right now for a cool $3,950 at Sideshow, and the replica is expected to be released January-March 2019. BB-8 first appeared in STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS, returned for STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI, and is also expected to beep and bwoop his way through STAR WARS: EPISODE IX on December 20, 2019.
