Robert Rodriguez's Hypnotic has finally set a production start date of September 20th. The upcoming thriller stars Ben Affleck (The Town, Mallrats) and has recently added Alice Braga (Predators, The Suicide Squad) to the cast. Originally, cameras were set to roll in April 2020, but production was delayed due to the pandemic and then a series of insurance issues.
In the film, a detective becomes entangled in a mystery involving his missing daughter and a secret government program while investigating a string of high-end crimes.
Rodriguez (Planet Terror, Alita: Battle Angel) and Max Borenstein (Kong: Skull Island) will pen the screenplay with Rodriguez in line to direct. Rodriguez, Studio 8 CEO Jeff Robinov and Studio8’s Guy Danella and John Graham are producing with Solstice. It's been said that the film has already been sold and will play in international markets, as well as the U.S. It's also been confirmed that all Covid-related insurance issues have been resolved.
Braga's next film is James Gunn's The Suicide Squad. She plays Sol Soria, a native of Corto Maltese and the leader of the Maltese Resistance, in the upcoming antihero action movie. Her primary goal is to rid her people of the Maltese dictator Silvio Luna who serves as an ally to Task Force X.
