Adam Sandler is taking his love of basketball to the small screen in Netflix‘s new Hustle teaser trailer. The inspirational film centers on basketball scout Stanley Sugarman, played by Sandler, who discovers a star player (played by real-life Utah Jazz star Juancho Hernangómez) in the making with a troubled past.
Per Netflix, here is the official synopsis for Hustle:
After discovering a once-in-a-lifetime player with a rocky past abroad, a down on his luck basketball scout (Adam Sandler) takes it upon himself to bring the phenom to the States without his team’s approval. Against the odds, they have one final shot to prove they have what it takes to make it in the NBA.
In the trailer, we find Sandler’s Sugarman delivering an impassioned speech to a hard-court hopeful with much to prove. “Do you love this game? I mean, love it with your whole heart? If you don’t, let’s not even bother. Let’s not open that door. They’re going to slam it right in our face,” Sugarman says to the young man in a harsh tone. You can tell that Sugarman means business and that he’ll accept nothing but 100% from those he takes under his wing.
Directed by Jeremiah Zagar (We the Animals, In a Dream) from a script written by Will Fetters and Taylor Materne, Hustle also stars Queen Latifah, Ben Foster, Robert Duvall, JordanHull, Ainhoa Pillet, Kenny Smith, and Maria Botto. Hustle is produced by NBA star LeBron James and Sandler.
