Casper Van Dien will be seen hunting humans in the upcoming thriller The Most Dangerous Game (coming to theatres and VOD on August 5th), and now Deadline has broken the news that he is also in a thriller called Hunt Club… which is also about hunting humans.

Directed by Elizabeth Blake-Thomas (The League of Legend Keepers: Shadows) from a script by David Lipper and John F. Saunders, Hunt Club puts its own twist on Richard Connell’s 1924 short story The Most Dangerous Game by telling the following story:

A group of male hunters routinely lure women to their island with the chance to win 100K in a hunt, only to find that they are the hunted. But this time, the men mess with the wrong three girls and suffer the consequences.

In addition to Casper Van Dien, the film stars Mena Suvari (American Beauty), Mickey Rourke (The Wrestler), Maya Stojan (Newness), Will Peltz (13 Minutes), and Jessica Belkin (The Orville). Production recently wrapped on Hunt Club, which was shot in Mississippi.

Lipper and Robert A. Daly Jr. produced the film under their Latigo Films banner, alongside Keli Price, Kipp Tribble, and Commando director Mark L. Lester. Kimberly Hines serves as executive producer.

Hunt Club is the first writing credit for John F. Saunders, but David Lipper previously wrote the drama Spring to Winter and the Christmas romance A Christmas Letter, and co-wrote the horror movie The Unwilling. He also directed the 2021 horror film Death Link.

“Humans are the prey” thrillers inspired by The Most Dangerous Game tend to be decent entertainment, so I’ll probably take a look at Hunt Club at some point. How does this one sound to you? Let us know by leaving a comment below.

A release date for Hunt Club has not yet been announced.
