Now this is interesting…
Childhood wrestling icon, Hulk Hogan did an interview with Howard Stern as part of his national press tour, which came about because of his recently released sex tape (gross). Well, his camp may not say that, but it’s obvious that they are out trying to do some sort of damage control because other than meeting grow-up Hulkamaniacs, why bother?
What of this conversation means anything to us? Well, Hogan says that he wants a role in the third EXPENDABLES film (at 54:00 in the video below), and before that mentions that he originally had the lead in Darren Aronofsky’s THE WRESTLER (39:00). The bit about THE WRESTLER is the whammy. Hogan says he turned it down because “Hollywood would have looked at it as a joke”, and said that Rourke was a better man for the job. There are several other excuses noted too. He also says he turned down the lead role in THE HIGHLANDER and a role in ROBIN HOOD: MEN IN TIGHTS.
Needless to say, Aronofsky caught wind of the allegations and got on Twitter to bring the truth to the light:
for the record the role of the wrestler was always @mickeyrourke it was never hulk hogan’s as he claims on @howardstern

that’s @mickey_rourke at twitter sharp as a wit dirty as a dish rag the true, original and only wrestler.

Who is the fibber? Aronofsky or Hogan? Make your own decision, or not. Either way, it’s amusing.
