The thought of my dad getting with one of my friends creeps me out. But watching the same scenario play out in a movie is kind of amusing. This is exactly what THE ORANGES is about.
Two families who have been friends for a long time wind up in a rather awkward situation. Hugh Laurie “falls” for the daughter (Leighton Meester) of the other family. Everyone finds out. The two then want to be taken more seriously as a couple rather than just blown off as a “mid-life crisis” sort of thing. Hilarity ensues.
The cast is a great one featuring Laurie, Meester, Catherine Keener, Allison Janney, Oliver Platt, Adam Brody and Alia Shawkat. THE ORANGES will open to a limited release on October 5th. This is one I definitely have to see.
The enduring friendship between the Walling and Ostroff families is tested when Nina, the prodigal Ostroff daughter, returns home for the holidays after a five-year absence and enters into an affair with David, head of the Walling family.
