Get ready for some spooky shenanigans when Hotel Transylvania: Transformania premieres exclusively on Amazon Prime Video on January 14, 2022. Originally slated for a 2021 release, the fourth installment in the Hotel Transylvania franchise was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Now, rather than bringing the film to theaters – which are still operating under restrictions that limit capacity and admittance for unvaccinated guests – Sony’s latest monster mash will be partying down on Amazon Prime. To celebrate the Hotel Transylvania: Transformania premiere, Amazon unleashed a new trailer that finds the franchise’s characters getting mixed up in a brand-new adventure.
In the film, “Drac and the Pack are back like you’ve never seen them before in Hotel Transylvania: Transformania. Reunite with your favorite monsters for an all-new adventure that presents Drac (Brian Hull) with his most terrifying task yet. When Van Helsing’s (Jim Gaffigan) mysterious invention, the ‘Monsterification Ray,’ goes haywire, Drac and his monster pals are all transformed into humans, and Johnny (Andy Samberg) becomes a monster! In their new mismatched bodies, Drac, stripped of his powers, and an exuberant Johnny, loving life as a monster, must team up and race across the globe to find a cure before it’s too late and before they drive each other crazy. With help from Mavis (Selena Gomez) and the hilariously human Drac Pack, the heat is on to find a way to switch themselves back before their transformations become permanent.”
Hotel Transylvania: Transformania stars Andy Samberg, Selena Gomez, Kathryn Hahn, Jim Gaffigan, Steve Buscemi, Molly Shannon, David Spade, Keegan-Michael Key, Brian Hull, Fran Drescher, Brad Abrell, and Asher Blinkoff. After voicing Dracula in the first three films, Sandler sat this one out and has been replaced by Brian Hull.
For the final chapter of the Hotel Transylvania film series, franchise creator Genndy Tartakovsky returns as one of the screenwriters and executive producers. Selena Gomez will also serve as an executive producer, while reprising her role as Drac’s daughter, Mavis, alongside Andy Samberg, returning as Johnny. Directed by Derek Drymon and Jennifer Kluska, the film is produced by Alice Dewey Goldstone and executive produced by Tartakovsky, Michelle Murdocca, and Gomez. The story is by Genndy Tartakovsky with a screenplay by Amos Vernon & Nunzio Randazzo and Genndy Tartakovsky.
Welp, I guess I know what I’m watching on January 14, 2022. I have something of a soft spot for this series and enjoy seeing so many classic movie monsters mixed up in hilarious hijinks. While not every installment in the franchise has been a banger, I definitely want to be there for when it all comes to an end.
