Stephen King-recommend Netflix horror series Hotel Beau Sejour gets a remake

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Truth be told, I have never heard of the Belgian supernatural crime drama series HOTEL BEAU SEJOUR until today. But that said, not only does the show sport a killer premise described as the Belgian TRUE DETECTIVE but it also comes with a recommendation from none other than Mr. Stephen King himself, who took to Twitter to praise the series, calling it:

eccentric, brilliant, and strangely touching. Supernatural fare for those who don’t ordinarily like it.

Well, it looks like the show is getting the remake treatment as today we've learned that Sky is developing an adaptation, which will be produced by Julian Stevens and written by Charlotte Wolf. The original 10-episode Flemish-language drama series tells the story of

Belgian teenager Kato Hoeven. In the small village of Lanklaar, in Limburg, Maasland, near Belgium’s Dutch border, Hoeven wakes up at the Hotel Beau Séjour to find a bloody corpse in the bathtub – her own. She has no memory of the day before her death or why she was there. She soon discovers that five people are able to see her and communicate with her as she desperately tries to find out who was responsible for her murder and why they killed her.

The series was created by Bert Van Dael, Sanne Nuyens, and Benjamin Sprengers and directed by Nathalie Basteyns and Kaat Beels. It stars Lynn Van Royen, Inge Paulussen, Kris Cuppens, Charlotte Timmers, Joke Emmers, Johan van Assche, Joren Seldeslachts, and Jan Hammenecker. A second season was confirmed for the series in November 2017. Filming is scheduled to begin this spring with a targeted release date of fall 2020.

You can go ahead and stream the series tonight over on Netflix RIGHT HERE.

TRIVIA: The title HOTEL BEAU SEJOUR translates to HOTEL NICE STAY. The more you know, right?
