Wolf Creek 3: John Jarratt is back as Mick Taylor, Rachele Wiggins directing

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

About a year has gone by since John Jarratt, who played Australian serial killer Mick Taylor in the films Wolf Creek (watch it HERE) and Wolf Creek 2 (watch that one HERE) as well as two seasons of a Wolf Creek television series (you can see season 1 at THIS LINK and season 2 at THIS ONE), confirmed that both a Wolf Creek 3 and a third season of the show were in the works. Now it looks like Wolf Creek 3 is moving forward at full steam – and surprisingly, this one is not being written or directed by franchise creator Greg McLean.

McLean is producing Wolf Creek 3 while Rachele Wiggins makes her feature directorial debut with the film. The screenplay has been written by Duncan Samarasinghe, and this is his first feature as well. Bianca Martino and Kristian Moliere are producing alongside McLean.

Jarratt is reprising the role of Mick Taylor. This time around,

an American family takes a dream trip to the Australian outback and soon draws the attention of notorious serial killer Mick Taylor. A hellish nightmare ensues as the couple’s two children escape only to be hunted by Australia’s most infamous killer.

Wolf Creek 3 will begin filming in South Australia by the end of the year. McLean had this to say about the project:

Serial killing pig shooter Mick Taylor — portrayed by the iconic Australian actor John Jarratt — will once more terrorise the Outback. And we couldn’t be more excited about the creative team we’ve assembled to realise the next chilling chapter in the Wolf Creek franchise. Duncan’s compelling, suspense-filled script combined with Rachele’s exciting directorial vision for the film will deliver a horror roller-coaster ride sure to delight genre fans around the world."

Altitude Film Sales will be presenting the project to potential distributors at the Virtual Cannes Market. Altitude will be distributing the film themselves in the U.K.

I have enjoyed all of Wolf Creek to varying degrees, so I look forward to seeing Mick Taylor back in action, continuing to be an awful person.
