We are getting a sequel to Trick ‘r Treat!

Fans of Michael Dougherty's cult Halloween classic TRICK 'R TREAT (and we are legion!) have a reason to rejoice today as the writer-director of the holiday favorite announced that a sequel is finally in the works! Sam is back!

Last night at a special screening of TRICK 'R TREAT at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood, director Michael Dougherty was fielding questions from the films many fans during a Q&A session when Sam, the Spirit of Halloween, came onstage and presented Dougherty with a note that read "Make A Sequel". Dougherty responded that it’s not his call, but rather Thomas Tull's from Legendary Pictures call.

Then Tull stood up in the audience and exclaimed…

"I can’t say no to Sam. Let’s make a sequel!"

And that's when a title card announcing TRICK 'R TREAT 2 splashed across the screen to the delight of the roaring audience.

We've always professed our love for TRICK 'R TREAT, even dedicating a special recent 'It's the Booze Talkin'' column to beg for a sequel to the film, so we were very happy to hear that it's finally going to happen. We'll keep you posted with news regarding TRICK 'R TREAT 2 as we hear it!
