Universal is aiming to release Tremors 6 in January 2018

After shepherding the franchise through four feature films and a thirteen episode television series, the creators of TREMORS were not involved with 2015's TREMORS 5: BLOODLINES beyond writing the initial script. While I was disappointed by that turn of events and had issues with some things the new creative team of screenwriter John Whelpley (who had previously written TREMORS 3: BACK TO PERFECTION) and director Don Michael Paul did in BLOODLINES, I'm still extremely excited that the franchise will be continuing on with a sixth film – one that has again been written by Whelpley and directed by Paul.

The wisest decision made in the crafting of TREMORS 5 was the choice to keep the heart of the franchise intact: Michael Gross was brought back to play our Graboid, Shrieker, and Ass-Blaster battling hero Burt Gummer. Gross reprises the role of Gummer once again in TREMORS 6, joined by his BLOODLINES co-star Jamie Kennedy as Gummer's sidekick/long lost son Travis B. Welker.

This time around, 

Burt Gummer and his son Travis Welker find themselves up to their ears in Graboids and Ass-Blasters when they head to Canada to investigate a series of deadly giant-worm attacks. Arriving at a remote research facility in the arctic tundra, Burt begins to suspect that Graboids are secretly being weaponized, but before he can prove his theory, he is sidelined by Graboid venom. With just 48 hours to live, the only hope is to create an antidote from fresh venom — but to do that, someone will have to figure out how to milk a Graboid!   

Gross and Kennedy's co-stars include Tanya van Graan, Rob van Vuuren, Greg Kriek, and Keeno Lee Hector.

TREMORS 6 will be coming to us from Universal Home Entertainment, but unlike another genre movie sequel they recently put into production, CULT OF CHUCKY, which we knew was set for a Halloween 2017 release as soon as it was announced, the intended release date for this TREMORS sequel has remained a mystery… Until now.

Michael Gross took to his Facebook account to share the news that Universal is planning to release TREMORS 6 on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD on January 30, 2018.

YOU HEARD IT HERE!!! Universal Studios Hollywood tells me that the tentative release date for Tremors 6 will be January 30, 2018. I appreciate that many of you would like to see it sooner, but I will keep you busy with behind the scenes posts. 

So we still have just under nine months to wait for this one, but it's good just to have a date in mind. Of course, a "tentative" date is subject to change, but hopefully the only direction this one might be moved in is forward.
