I always appreciate it when Tyler Labine shows up in a movie or a TV show. The TUCKER AND DALE VS. EVIL star first caught my attention in the series Reaper, and whenever I've seen his name on the cast list for something since I have been sure to watch whatever it is, no matter how little interest I had in it otherwise. I always find Labine to be entertaining.
This means I will definitely be watching director Adam Robitel's new film THE MAZE. Labine is joining the previously announced Deborah Ann Woll, Logan Miller, and Taylor Russell in the film, along with fellow new cast members Jay Ellis and Nik Dodani.
Written by Bragi Schut and Maria Melnik, THE MAZE is said to be in the vein of David Fincher's THE GAME (which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year) and centers on
six strangers who find themselves in circumstances beyond their control and must use their wits to survive.
That description makes it sound more like the numerous SAW knock-offs that were being released about ten years ago, but I'm open to seeing how this turns out, especially with Labine in there.
Robitel's previous credits include THE TAKING OF DEBORAH LOGAN and INSIDIOUS: THE LAST KEY, which will be released in January.
