On January 6, 2017, genre fans will have their chance to see actor Tobias Menzies deal with vampires and werewolves on the big screen when UNDERWORLD: BLOOD WARS is released in theatres. Later in 2017, Menzies will be dealing with a different sort of creature on the small screen, as he has signed on to play a member of the Royal Navy in the AMC anthology series The Terror.
Based on the 2007 novel by Dan Simmons, The Terror
is set in 1847, when a Royal Navy expedition crew searching for the Northwest Passage is attacked by a mysterious predator that stalks the ships and their crews in a suspenseful and desperate game of survival. It is a fictionalized account of Captain Sir John Franklin’s lost expedition of HMS Erebus and HMS Terror.
The 10 episode series is a co-production of Scott Free, Alexandra Milchan's Emjag Productions, Entertainment 360, and AMC Studios. David Kajganich handled the adaptation of Simmons' source material and will be co-showrunning with Soo Hugh.
Menzies' previous credits include the Bond film CASINO ROYALE, Outlander, Game of Thrones, and the recent limited series The Night Manager, which aired on AMC and received twelve Emmy nominations.
