The X-Files has really been amping up its promo game in the weeks leading up to the new year. We've already gotten a heap of bad-ass posters, but this new promo, though it doesn't contain any actual footage from the show (as far as we know), is probably the best thing yet.
As you may recall, earlier last month in California many people reported seeing a strange light in the sky that turned out to be a military missile test. Or did it? Working that real life story into their new commercial, The X-Files struck a chord in this non-believer.
I highly doubt that this particular story will be worked into the show because you know those scripts have been locked down for months, but this was an extremely clever move. It provokes that sense of eerieness and infinite possibility that the best episodes of the show achieved. Check it out below!
The series premiere, "My Struggle", centers on Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) investigating Annet Mahendru's character, who is believed to be a "possible alien abductee," according to Joel McHale's character, a conservative talk show host who gives Mulder and Scully the tip to investigate her.
The X-Files crew is joined by Bruce Harwood, Tom Braidwood, Dean Haglund, Robbie Amell, Lauren Ambrose, Rhys Darby, and Kumail Nanjiani. The X-Files will beam onto Fox with a six-episode season on January 24, 2016.
