The Sundance horror hit THE EYES OF MY MOTHER (the debut feature of writer-director Nicolas Pesce) is currently available in limited theaters and on VOD, but if you're still on the fence about seeing it (you shouldn't be), check out the eerie new clips that have arisen from the much. The first, titled "Chained," is a short but sweet claustrophobic scene with a terrifying stinger, and the second titled "Surgery," is just plain gross. The aesthetic of this film reminds me a lot of the desaturated, oppressive color scheme of THE WITCH, which can only be a good comparison. Check them both out below!
In their secluded farmhouse, a mother, formerly a surgeon in Portugal, teaches her daughter, Francisca, to understand anatomy and be unfazed by death. One afternoon, a mysterious visitor shatters the idyll of Francisca's family life, deeply traumatizing the young girl, but also awakening unique curiosities. Though she clings to her increasingly reticent father, Francisca's loneliness and scarred nature converge years later when her longing to connect with the world around her takes on a dark form.
Kika Magalhães, Will Brill, Flora Diaz, Paul Nazak, Clara Wong, Diana Agostini, and Olivia Bond star.
Magnet will be releasing THE EYES OF MY MOTHER on VOD and in select theatres on December 2nd.
