Thirteen years after Angelina Jolie last stepped into the boots of video game heroine Lara Croft, COLD PREY director Roar Uthaug and Swedish It Girl actress Alicia Vikander are teaming up to bring the TOMB RAIDER back to the screen.

This new take on TOMB RAIDER is scheduled to be released on March 16, 2018 and will

tell the story of the young and untested Croft on her first adventure.

Seeking to find out a bit more about the movie than that, those goonies over at HeyUGuys asked the film's producer Graham King what he could share with them about the project. King said the following:

Well this is kind of what we're calling a 'back to the roots story'. This is a young Lara Croft in search to see if her father is dead or alive, so it has a very emotional part to it and I think that's what Alicia found so interesting about it. I think the storytelling is really good and I think we’ve got the right crew and a great director and I think it's going to be a lot of fun making a film like this."

I'm not all that familiar with the details of Croft's story, but I am very interested in seeing what Uthaug and Vikander are able to do with this property. I look forward to seeing their TOMB RAIDER when it's released, and I don't think it should be too difficult for them to make a better movie than the Jolie Croft adventures. I thought those movies were fun, but wasn't very impressed with them overall.
